They lingered in London only long enough for a confirmation that more money had indeed entered Jose’s account. With the cash they had from Sam Jenkins it had been a relaxed stay, ironing out the final details of their next move regarding MacGregor and Lehuby. They fretted and worried that the transaction had already taken place, that funds were sitting in MacGregors account, away from their scheming hands. They were likely baseless worries as not much time had passed and Lehuby would want to get some settlers signed up before paying anything over. He wold care that the deal had been up front payment. They also knew that worrying would do nothing, so they continued their planning.

It had been an odd, but pleasurable experience to see Sam Jenkins in such discomfort and capitulating so quickly to what they wanted. The fear of God had thoroughly been put in him by Noemi’s threats. They didn’t walk away with £300,000 though the had a substantial sum from his safe with promises for the rest to be transferred to an account in Jose’s name at a separate, reputable banking establishment once he had done his best to fleece some of his dumber, richer clients who hadn’t yet heard of Poyais.

Back in London

They walked up the steps, one by one, towards their meeting with Sam Jenkins.  In communication with him prior to leaving Paris, they agreed it was best to meet at a neutral location such as Fox Lane.  Jose reaches the top of the stoop stairs and then slipped, a loose stone coming out from under his feet.  Emma was their to catch him as he fell back slightly, which he was grateful for on a number of levels.  Before he could thank her, Noemi was cracking wise, “you better not kiss her now brother, we need to be focussed on Jenkins.  You too Emma.  Focus!”
